Mother and child foundation is a registered charitable society began in the year 2000. It is specifically instituted for abandoned mothers and children. Described below in detail are the origin of the society, the objectives, the list of members in the managing committee, the different activities it has undertaken, the contribution it has made to the society, the nature of its function, the assets of the society, the beneficiaries of its efforts, the addresses of the Bank with whom the society Bank with, and the aspirations of the society about the future.
THE ORIGIN OF THE SOCIETY.
Mr. Tomy a youngster who in his early twenties with full of dynamism and courage set out for a new mission of sheltering the unwanted of the society. Empathy moved Mr. Tomy to take up this difficult task, as you know great risk is involved in such sort of activities. In the year 1996 a charitable society was registered for the caring of wandering mental patients, namely Divyarakshaka Social and charitable society. Within the span of 9 years the society was able to take care of 1100 mental patients who were once wandering on the streets. At present the society is taking care off 150 patients, giving them all the basic necessities such as food, clothing, shelter, medicines etc. Meanwhile the pathetic condition of a mother and child moved Mr. Tomy to begin a new home for abandoned Mothers and Children. It involved great risks and yet he faced the challenge. It all began like this. In the year 1998 an article was published in one of the news papers about a mentally sick Mother and her child wandering on the streets in inhuman conditions. Moved with compassion Mr.Tomy decided to face the challenge. They were brought home and well cared. The mother was hospitalized and rehabilitated .
Her son Bharthan, The first born of the foundation was 8 year old when he was relieved from the streets. He had become a victim of all the other evil inclinations of the society. This little boy, though influenced and inclined by all the bad elements of the society, did care for his mentally sick mother begging, until they were brought home. Since we were not able to reside him with the mentally sick people, we decided to shelter him with a good old couple Mr.&Mrs. Augustine Mekunnel. They willingly accepted him in their home. Now we are proud of our first born since he is grown up to such difference, being in the 8th standard, he became the school leader, he is a good musician, good in studies, and best boy on the alter . As the days passed by, there were pressing needs from unwed, abandoned and mentally sick mothers and their children.

We sheltered them all in the same house with this good old couple by making some alterations to their house. When this little home was filled with many mothers and children we had to think new possibilities. This was the picture to which Mr. Thomas Myladoor stepped in. He, being a non resident Indian settled down in Italy for the last 30 years paid a casual visit to our humble home. Being a very generous man, moved with compassion for the friendless and forlorn, the most abandoned, Shared his desire with Mr. Tomy to do something concretely for the betterment for these least, last and the lost. The option that he offered was that he will construct a conducive home for these mothers and children provided that we avail the necessary land for the same. Mrs. Eleyamma one of our benefactors, most graciously donated, one and half acres of land, in memory of her Late Husband Mr.Mathai Mathew, for the same purpose. Then we decided to register a new charitable society named Mother and child foundation in the year 2000, Mr. Thoams Myladoor being the president. He raised funds by his efforts and completed a double story building (22,000 sq feet) by the year 2005 , costing 80 lakhs. Thus one of our long cherished dreams was realized .Now the foundation is sheltering 33 mothers and 120 children.
THE MOTHERS WHOM WE CATER TO:
Dehumanized as they are, either on the streets wandering or abandoned by their husbands or they are mentally sick, and yet some others unwed. Children who are not very good in studies are given practical and professional training in music, plumbing, Electrical work, welding, Tailoring etc. The children who have a taste in sports are encouraged and they bring in many prize to the foundation. Monetary help little or more, given by our benefactors will suffice for our daily sustenance. There are benefactors who regularly help us in kind. They bring in agricultural and consumer products, clothes that which meets the basic needs of the residents. Some people sponsor our different projects. For example one may sponsor the food for a day, gives money for our housing project or for the construction of our building. With a little more financial assistance the standard of life here could be much better. We remember all our benefactors and render our sincere thanks to all.

VII. REHABILITATION OF UNWED 0R ABANDONED MOTHERS, THEIR CHILDREN AND ORPHANS:
The social stigma of the society binds them, and mounts up pressure that could force them to end up their lives. These women are the most misused and manipulated members by the evil structures of the society. The children suffer and bear the consequences of the misfortunes of their mothers. Now we are providing security and all the other basic needs of life, for 33 mothers and 120 children at Mother and child foundation. X. THE FUTURE ASPIRATIONS OF THE FOUNDATIONS :
The tress work to be done on top of the building.
We would like to give fiber roofing on top of our house. It is the pressing need of the hour. Why do we aspire for this? First of all, we found it very difficult to pass the monsoons through. The problem that we faced was that we didn't have the facility to dry our cloths. So if at all there is fiber roofing on top of our house, we could utilize the space for the same purpose.
Secondly: We could do all the other rehabilitation programme for our mothers and children under the same roof such as Tailoring, Toy making, Chappell cutting, Umbrella etc.
Thirdly: We can do roof gardening, an amusement park for the little children and even we can convert some space into our hall where we can hold our meetings
The estimated cost for the tress work is almost Rs.8,00,000/-
Our daily expenses:
The daily expenses for the food alone will come around Rs. 7085/- per day.
BED COFFEE 153nos - 200
BREAKFAST 153x10 - 1530
LUNCH 153x15 - 2295
TEA 153x5 - 765
SUPPER 153x15 - 2295

We earnestly desire for the financial assistance for our other needs such as clothing , medicines, maintenance, education of children etc.
The utensils which requires for the kitchen:
One of the other most important needs is that to have steam cooking facilities for our kitchen, which will help in turn to reduce our use of cooking gas & firewood. We also need to have more vessels for the kitchen, specially, the kind of vessels which will preserve the food and keep it warm. Also crockery items which are necessary for the refectory
Washing Machine
As we are a large number of people living as a family it is very difficult for us to have our clothes washed daily and dry up the same as there are no facilities. If we could afford to have a washing machine with a drier, one of our main problems can be solved. Now what we do is that, we daily go to the near by river and have our clothes washed. It's a laborious and time consuming task for our staffs and volunteers. The estimated cost for the washing machine, and drier is Rs.4.75,000/-
